Selling fees

There are no complicated selling fees here at PromoPit ... everything is nice and simple to understand. In fact, the hardest thing when it comes to selling fees ... is deciding which merchant account is going to represent the best value for your particular situation and needs.

The first thing we will do is break down this down into the 2 types of "fees" that we have.

Fees associated with listing your products, creating promos, etc.

Most sales platforms will tend to charge you a flat fee for each product you add, or for each instance of a listing you create. In many cases, this can cost you as much as $50 or more per product or listing.

Well, at PromoPit, you can actually add your products to the marketplace completely for FREE! Whether you choose the Free merchant account, or one of our monthly plans ... adding your products to PromoPit won't cost you anything, and we've made it so easy that ANYONE can do it!

So, if it's free for everyone to add their products, then what are those monthly plans for?

The 3 monthly merchant plans (Lite, Standard, and Pro) do carry a small cost, but this cost is for the additional benefits that these merchant accounts have over the Free merchant account. You can compare the merchant account benefits by going to the comparison table where you will see what each merchant level gets. But one thing that the Lite, Standard, and Pro merchants all get each month is credits, which are needed if you want to run those special promos that you often see on the main PromoPit site (with the price in the red box and the countdown timer). Free merchants can of course purchase credits when needed, but it would be advisable to upgrade to a monthly plan if a lot of credits are being used because it ends up being cheaper that way :)

And, if you are a more active merchant with several products, then you should probably consider the Pro account, or at the very least the Standard merchant account. Not only will these options allow you to do product giveaways (Lite merchants can't do product giveaways), but they include more credits every month and cheaper selling fees when you actually sell products.

The great thing about PromoPit is that if you do choose one of our merchant plans (Lite, Standard, or Pro) ... then you will find that the cost is so low that your monthly fee is covered after just a sale or two!

Fees per sale

Aside from the small monthly fee (for Lite, Standard, and Pro - the Free merchant account costs nothing), the only other time you will need to pay any kind of fees is when you actually SELL stuff! And good news ... we have kept these fees really low!

Let's look quickly at the merchant account options and the way fees are handled for each ...

Merchant Free

The Free merchant option is perfect for merchants that want to test the waters a bit by getting their products listed and live in the marketplace without spending any money. As a Free merchant, you will be able to add your products and start selling in the marketplace with NO upfront or monthly cost whatsoever - free means free! You can then just purchase credits as needed if and when you want to run special promos (adding your product to the marketplace is FREE, and you can start making sales ... but if you want the added exposure that a promo can bring, then it will cost you 5 credits to create one). The selling fee (this is only charged when you actually sell something) is a little higher with the Free merchant plan, but still less than many other product listing services with far less features and appeal. Once you get comfortable (and maybe start making some sales, the monthly merchant plans represent tremendous value and offer many benefits. If you are interested, then you can always upgrade when you are ready at a later date.

Fee per sale: $0.95 + 6% of the purchase price

Merchant Lite (cheapest plan)

The Lite merchant option is perfect for merchants that are just starting out and don't want to spend too much money while they get their feet wet. The monthly fee is the cheapest of the 3 monthly plan options, but the selling fees per sale are higher than the other 2 monthly plans ... so, if you are making decent sales, then you would actually SAVE money by going with a more expensive monthly plan. The Lite merchant is also a great option if you plan on being relatively inactive for a month (not creating any promos, etc) ... and you can always upgrade back to Standard or Pro when you are ready to kick it back into high gear!

Fee per sale: $0.95 + 4% of the purchase price

Merchant Standard (popular)

The Standard merchant option is a popular choice because it offers the best of both worlds ... a good number of monthly credits, the ability to run FREE product giveaways (Lite and Free can't do this), low selling fees, and all at a monthly rate that anyone can afford. Obviously there will be several features that are only available if you go to the top level Pro account, but the Standard merchant option is a very safe choice if you aren't quite sure which one is best. Remember, you can always switch to another merchant account option at a later date if you choose.

Fee per sale: $0.75 + 3% of the purchase price

Merchant Pro (most features)

The Pro merchant option is the "all in" merchant account that offers ALL the benefits and features available. You also get a ton of credits every month so that you can run countless promos all month long. And not only do you get a lot more credits than the other merchant options, but creating promos costs half as many credits as the Lite merchant option! This allows you to create 10 times more promos than the Lite merchant can ... every single month! With tons of credits, all the features, and the lowest possible selling fees, the Pro merchant is an ideal option for active merchants ... but it is also a great option for anyone looking to experience PromoPit to its fullest potential.

Fee per sale: $0.55 + 2% of the purchase price
